# Subscription

Use **Subscription** to check your WProofreader Server license. The admin panel reads the license but cannot change it. All team roles can open this page.

Your server administrator activates the license on WProofreader Server with the License Ticket ID from WebSpellChecker. See [License activation in Docker](/v6.18.1/deployment/licensing/license-activation-in-docker.md). The License Ticket ID is not the Service ID: the admin panel creates a Service ID when you [activate a product](/v6.18.1/admin-panel/self-hosted/products.md#activating-a-product).

### License status

| Status       | What it means                                                                                                          |
| ------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Active**   | The server license is valid. Available products and actions depend on the license, activation and your team role.      |
| **Inactive** | The license expired or was disabled. Proofreading and AI writing assistance are unavailable until it is renewed.       |
| **Absent**   | No license is installed. Proofreading and AI writing assistance are unavailable. The menu shows only **Subscription**. |
| **Unknown**  | The admin panel cannot read the server license. Access stays restricted until it can read the license again.           |

For **Inactive** or **Absent**, contact WebSpellChecker to renew or obtain a license. For **Unknown**, ask your server administrator to check WProofreader Server. **Subscription** remains available while other actions are blocked. A server outage can temporarily retain the last known license status before **Unknown** appears.

### License due date

For an **Active** license, **License due date** shows the expiration date reported by the server. A perpetual license shows **No expiration date**.

If the server reports neither a date nor a perpetual license, this row is absent. A missing date alone does not mean the license is perpetual.

For an **Inactive** or **Absent** license, the page also shows the server's message under the status.

After activation, the license card is titled with the selected team's product. Before activation, the card is titled **Server license**.
