⚠️ **Important change for self-hosted customers**\
Starting with v6.16.0, self-hosted customers must reactivate their license after each WProofreader version upgrade.

Key updates:

* Introduced a new v4 license format with product grants, usage limits, and version restrictions
* Added the new [license\_status](/v6.16.0/api-reference/auxiliary-api-commands/license-status.md) command and improved license expiration reporting and warnings
* Updated the third-party grammar engine (LanguageTool) to the 2026-08-03 release
* Expanded spelling dictionaries with 1,960+ new words across nine languages
* Updated the English style guide with new rules for sensitive language and disability-inclusive wording
* Addressed a high-severity security vulnerability [CVE-2026-40984](https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-40984) in a LanguageTool dependency
