# Credentials

The [Credentials](https://app.wproofreader.com/credentials) page provides the keys you need to activate the proofreading service and authenticate API requests.

### Service ID

The **Service ID** is your subscription activation key. You use it to connect WProofreader, SCAYT, or any other WebSpellChecker product to your subscription. Enter this value in the `serviceId` parameter of your product configuration.

You can reveal the Service ID by clicking the eye icon, and copy it with the copy button.

### Access key

The **Access key** is used to authenticate direct API requests for features like custom dictionary and style guide management. You don't need it for standard product setup.

If you believe your access key has been compromised, click **Regenerate** to create a new one. The old key is deactivated immediately.
