# How to check the version?

You can check the application version in several ways:

* Via configuration file. Open WebSpellChecker/AppServer/AppServerX.xml . In the top-level tags, you’ll see the application version.
* Via API in a browser `http(s)://hostname.com/wscservice/api?cmd=version`

Note that the virtual directory may not be wscservice . It can also be spellcheck or a custom value.

* Via terminal (using **curl**) `curl http(s)://hostname.com/wscservice/api?cmd=ver`
